A Shinning Star
Wednesday, March 28, 2007 was a day for the William S. Hart Union High School District to "Celebrate Our Shinning Stars." That was the theme for this year's Regional Occupational Program's (ROP) Annual Student Recognition Dinner. ROP is an excellent way for students to get real life experiences in many different careers ranging from Interior Design, Law Enforcement, Infant Care and many other possibilities. Eighteen of Hart District's finest students were honored for performing at an outstanding level in their chosen ROP field. Each of the 18 students was awarded with either a bronze, silver, or gold medal.
One student was awarded the most outstanding ROP student of 2007 and was added to William S. Hart District's ROP Hall Of Fame. The winner this year was Wesley Ellsworth, a senior at Opportunities for Learning Charter School - Santa Clarita. His performance was outstanding in his specialty of Hotel Operations. Wesley was visibly surprised as his name was called. On the other hand, his teacher at Opportunities For Learning, Stephanie Bowen, stated "I was not surprised at all because Wesley has always been enthusiastic about his ROP classes." "He is a wonderful student," adds Mrs. Bowen. Wesley was chosen as this year's winner by a panel of experts representing Hart District, the City of Santa Clarita, and the professional community. The winner's home school gets to display the Hall Of Fame plaque with the names of all past and current winners, which Opportunities for Learning - Santa Clarita will proudly do. Wesley was happy to experience this honor as he is finishing his classes to participate in Opportunity For Learning's graduation ceremonies in June.
Congratulations to OFL student Wesley Ellsworth his teacher Stephanie Bowen!
