Opportunities for Learning Students and Staff
to Participate in the "Relay for Life"
For several months, a team of students and staff have been working on fundraisers for the local “Relay for Life.” They raised almost $2000 for the American Cancer Society last year and hope to exceed that this year. On April 18th and 19th the team will have at least one member walking the track for 24 hours straight and will be running a booth with further fundraisers at the actual event.
Some of our fundraisers are going to include bake sales, a car wash, candy-grams, and a Guitar Hero tournament. All of our team members have a goal of $100 each in donations to help in the fight against cancer. At the event there will be a luminaria ceremony where people can buy a bag that will be illuminated in honor of a cancer survivor or lost loved one. This incredibly moving ceremony includes a silent lap around the track and the bags will be arranged to spell out the word HOPE.
Our team is motivated to help in the fight against cancer for us and our loved ones. While our seniors are earning their 10 hours of community service, they are also helping to rid the world of cancer!
